Alaska Part II

This stop in Sitka was the first stop and one of the best. When the ship docked we went pedal to the metal and crammed in everything we had time for. We first boarded a boat for a whale watching tour. We saw TONS of whales and they are big big. We saw seals, bald eagles, salmon jumping, and bears.

they never fight

Lots of light - the sun stayed out late and came back out early making beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

This is Sagway  - the super small town was visited by President Warren G Harding. We took the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad up the mountain and into the Canada! What a lovely view - a little scary - but lovely.

Back in Sitka we saw some bears! They were eating salmon of course and trying to gain some weight before hibernating for the winter.

The eagle has landed ... in the nest!

This was meant for O'Neill - he will smile once those braces are off.

The Bird refugee camp - rehabilitating injured birds including the main star of the show - the Eagle

Loved seeing the totem polls around town. There was so much to do, so many hikes, so much to learn but we hit the highlights and attention spans.

More seals - how they get up there I don't know

WHALES! We saw so many whales - they were all swarming us on the small boat - there were so many of them all swimming together.

Solo breakfast on the ship while all my sleeping beauties were getting their sleep. Zzzz
