We headed to Whistler to ski but we almost didn't get there. After we checked in the ticket agent wouldn't check our luggage from LAX to Vancouver. They said the airline needed 90 minutes (not our 60 mins) to check the luggage through and told us to call our travel agent to get another flight because they couldn't change our itinerary after we already checked in… After two hours on the phone and after we almost booked another flight to the tune of $2500 I asked one more time to have the agents show me the rule why they wouldn't check the luggage. He told me he was on break and to talk to someone else. So I did and 10 minutes later we had 5 boarding passes and luggage checked on a direct flight that left in 30 minutes! Completely ridiculous! But honestly I don't think we would have made it if we hadn't been switched to a direct flight; from door to door it was 10 hours and all they had were the snacks we packed!
The kids love the snow and they couldn't wait to go skiing. The drive from Vancouver to Whistler was gorgeous and rainy. We were so happy to get to our destination!
Already breaking into their backpacks for "breakfast" and activities...
We made it!! O'Neill was so excited to ski!
Victoria was so happy to see the snow - she wanted to play in it all day long… She says her favorite part of skiing are the bumps.
O'Neill's teacher wanted the kids to take Flat Stanley along on spring break but O'Neill didn't think it was a good idea… he never wanted to take a pic with him
We stayed at the Chateaux Fairmont at the base of Blackcomb mountain where it was the first time I've ever skied in and out.
Here is O'Neill side stepping up the little hill and then "skiing" down the mountain. He could not wait for ski school to start.
Our first day was a bluebird day on the mountain with sun and great snow so everyone was out and this is a pic of the lift line.
The next day was rainy and snowy - a white out.
The best part of a long day skiing is the "apres ski"
Shopping in the town center - O'Neill bought a geode and V an amethyst necklace
JZ and I traveled from Peak to Peak of the two mountains on the gondola and it was so scary for me!
Top of the mountain having lunch and enjoying lots of hot chocolate!
Family pic on top! The kids skied all the way down.
Skied out
Tubing!
Last breakfast of champions before heading back to the states
