New Mexico - Sante Fe

After our Great Sand Dunes day - we drove to Sante Fe to stay at the Rosewood Inn at the Anasazzi. We didn't get to really explore the town but we got a little taste of the town. The next day we drove 10 hours home and the kids were so glad to be there. (Victoria hadn't been home but for 12 hours in 5 weeks)

Things get crazy when you are ready to go home.

Zapata Falls

Zapata Falls is a a gorgeous waterfall at the end of a rock hike. O'Neill was not very interested in hiking but once we got to the river and had to wade in the shallow cool water and climb around some rocks he saw the waterfall and he was glad he went.

Took the Escalade up 3 miles of ROCKY ROAD in 4 wheel drive. So glad the black beauty kept us safe on our drive up and down mountains and on the highways!

We loved seeing all the chipmunks!

Great Sand Dunes National Park

Sand Surfing at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. From far away the GREAT sand dunes don't look very impressive. But when you are standing at the bottom the dunes those things are pretty intimidating. And it really puts those mountains in the background into perspective. This activity was one of the most fun things we did on the trip. It seems that O'Neill is ready to move on from skiing to snowboarding. So glad we stopped in the middle of no where Colorado. We were told to wear socks and long pants because the sand might be really really hot but the sand was soft and warm. Good thing we had plenty of water because there wasn't a snack shop anywhere nearby. After our sand surfing we had a nice picnic with all the chipmunks - so amazing!
