West Texas Travels!

We ventured out to West Texas! Our fourth National Park since Covid - Big Bend National Park. We stayed at Lajitas Golf and Resort and Cibola Ranch. It was about an 8 1/2 hour drive. The weather was sunny and warm in the day and cool at night. The mountains were gorgeous and the views were amazing. Everything was dusty and they call it the High Desert. We could see the Rio Grande and Mexico just a stones throw away from the road. We zip lined, road horses, canoed the Rio Grande, and hiked Big Bend. We explored ghost towns, trading posts, cemeteries, ruins and saw some breath taking views. we even got caught in the great snow storm and the kiddos loved playing with the 6 inches of white stuff.

The Mayor of Lajitas is an actual goat named Clay Henry - he's the Greatest Of All Time!

Pink Cactus - I love these! I have never seen those before.

We hiked a few miles (about 5 miles) and Victoria was a trooper. She just came out of her boot from Thanksgiving so her ankle was bothering her a little bit.

We took a sunset horse ride up the mesa.

This peak is the logo for Lajitas

Rebecca found this fossil on the trail ride.

Big Bend had a great exhibit about the earth and what the land looked liked before it was a desert. We saw fossils and all sorts of cool stuff.

We took a family canoe ride on the Rio Grande! It was almost 80 with sunshine. We stopped over on the Mexican side. It is truly a natural barrier and so pretty.

Everyone went zip lining this time. It was great to see everyone confident and having fun!

They were collecting some really cool rocks!
