The family escaped the Dallas heat to visit Colorado. We stayed in Beaver Creek and enjoyed visiting Glenwood Springs and Vail. We met up with some other families from Dallas and Denver. Here are some pics from our family mountain adventure.
Early morning flight. These kiddos are great travelers and are totally used to process.
Ahhh... made it to Sweet Basil; my favorite restaurant in Vail. We were at SB just four months ago! It was a little "touch and go" as we drove from Denver through Clear Creek Canyon with some local traffic to Vail and a car full of hungry campers. We saw LOTS of Texas plates.
Green grass and flowers galore! Yes, these Texas kids have on sweatshirts!
No sweatshirt for the spunky blonde!
White Water Rafting Trip on the Upper Colorado River. This trip was a great introduction to white water rafting for these kids - class 1 and 2. Next time these kids are going to be really ready for class 3 and 4. They wanted more!
The Spunky Blonde was brave as she tried the bungee trampoline. Totally nailed it!
Victoria was all over the bungee trampoline - the higher the better. I'm not sure when she became a daredevil!?
Rope course for O
Gem Panning was the hit of the trip. They kept wanting to pan for stones and gold... everywhere we went.
This was O'Neill's first time rock climbing and he did great. Victoria hit the top of the wall a couple of times and felt like a rock climbing pro since she did it at camp.
This girl spent most of her time panning for gems.
Colorado High!
More ropes for O
Rocket magnet contest at dinner
We did some family pictures with these crazy cowpokes
And of course our resident Bug Man found a slug...
Hiking on the top of Beaver Creek mountain: flower picking, stick collecting, bird watching, and photo taking...
Mini JZ
Mini Me
Don't call her Mini
Playing horse shoes on the mountain. And he got it!
On top of the mountain lounging.
Selfie
Lunching with friends - Jacob and Mattson
Even in boots - she's got this
More Gem Panning!
Zavalas and Trohas
We visited the Glenwood Adventure Park. It was raining and cold when we arrived but turned sunny and warm as we stayed. We didn't even have time to check out the hot springs!
Mountain alpine coaster - something everyone was looking forward to and it became the favorite ride.
Victoria said to go full blast and not put on the brakes - it was really fast! My face says it all.
I like the Rebecca speed better
Victoria and JZ were the brave souls who went down the two seater zip line! You have the check out the video! I can't believe she did it!!
The girls braved the bottom of the cave - such a cool thing to see. O'Neill was a little scared after he did the Mine Drop roller coaster in total darkness. I'm glad I didn't go on that ride!
O'Neill was enthralled with the Blacksmith. He watch the blacksmith make a few craft items and he begged us to buy him one. O couldn't take his eyes off him for about 45 minutes.
Family laser tag. JZ totally won - shocker
The Giddy Up ride
Family Coaster was a hit!
This swing swung all the way out on the cliff so you look down the valley - this looked super terrifying that no-one in our family went on it!
Victoria did convince me to go on the mountain swing where the swing goes over the edge of the cliff. I had my eyes closed and was terrified. It was a pretty view but much too frightening for me!
The gondola ride up the mountain was enough for me!
VAIL - I think this is my favorite little ski town in the area.
We stayed in the Westin at the base of Beaver Creek mountain. It was a great place and perfect for our family. I'm so glad we were able to see the mountains in the summer and participate in all the activities! Magical trip - rainbow and all.
