8th grade graduation was filled with many milestones. The celebrations started with the Sheepfold chapel ceremony where the faculty prays over the 8th grade class. The 8th grade “prank” was brought back as a tradition this year with caveats. Instead of a prank the students wore shirts that said Time Flies and greeted the morning carpool with signs and Fat Heads of their baby picture. A mom, Kim Wylie, put together a slide show of the students over their years at the school where parents came and watched. Victoria received the “most opinionated” award at their ceremony. They went to their last St. John’s 7th and 8th grade dance which was a country theme. On the last day of finals the girls came over to our house for a pool party and kicked off summer. The clap out and parade through the school after they had the 7th and 8th grade blue shirt luncheon where they pass their blue shirts down to the incoming 8th graders. The graduating 8th graders signed their classmates shirts. The mock trial was a success where they argued a case at SMU’s law school. And the 8th grade Musical Shrek Jr was also a hit- and Victoria really shined in her role as Mama Bear and a dancing extra. She had a small solo she sang well. The Baccalaureate ceremony was held in the chapel and was a beautiful tribute to the class. Afterwards we had a brunch at Lakewood Country Club. There was a graduation party at a Kym Wells’ home. The graduation ceremony was held at the Dallas Arboretum. One of the student speakers talked about the school’s COVID policies and although it was probably not the most appropriate time I found it hilarious. That’s a wrap on St John’s.
The next day we all flew out to Watercolor FL to kick off summer and enjoy the company of such good friends. Next stop - high school.
