San Antonio Weekend Get-A-Way

We took a little weekend get-a-way trip to San Antonio. We also celebrated my birthday! Victoria learned about Texas history in 4th grade and really enjoyed seeing the Alamo. O'Neill learned a lot about the Alamo - like the Texans didn't win the battle. San Antonio was super tourist friendly! I forget there is so much to see in Texas - love these little towns.

The Hotel Contessa was right on the river and we had a wonderful view of the river from the room. The river is lush and busy.

JZ sent flowers to celebrate my birthday while he was flying to met us in San Antonio.

St. Anthony - the patron saint of lost things.

The river boat cruise was great to learn a little about the city's history.

The river boat captain was hilarious

The gate of love locks

Visiting the monument of Adina de Zavala. She was the grand daughter of Lorenzo de Zavala. She was a leader in preserving historical monuments including the Alamo.

Victoria loves Agua Fresca!

Swimming on the rooftop

Market Square shopping. It was a little bit like the Mexican markets. Had a blast - it was like we left the country but without using our passport.

Relaxing by the pool.

Rebecca loves her Mexican dress and wore it two days in a row.

The Cathedral Ferdinand hosted a cool light show depicting the history of Texas. It was awesome.

Dinner on the river and taking a picture with the waiter.

We traveled to Luckenbach, TX.

The portrait of the Contessa at the hotel.

Breakfast on the river.

We traveled to Fredericksburg to see the German town and have some German food for lunch. The town is booming and has so many really swanky stores - we ended up getting a table for our new house and a cow skin rug! ha

When Rebecca was learning about Germany at school they made the cutest coo coo clock - and she loved seeing all these clocks. She loved seeing many signs in the German language and was saying hello in Germany to everyone.

All in all a great weekend. It makes me want to visit more Texas towns!

Austin Visit

We stopped by the Austin Davises on the way back from camp. We had a blast seeing our cousins and the new house. These kids really love each other!
The visit was not without drama - Tyler was so fun to rent a boat on Lake Travis. But before the kids could even tube, the boat hit something so hard that it dented the rudder causing us to get towed back to the marina. Luckily there was another boat we used and eventually had a blast!!! Even this mama got on the tube. Then sadly, on the way home from the lake, Juliet's car got hit by a driver under the influence. Allison, Kate and Victoria were in the car and they were really shaken up since this was their first car accident. Never a dull moment.
